    How wonderful.

  2. Jeanette Lane says:

I am delighted to see this photo of my grandfather William Charles Willis – my mother was Janet May Willis the daughter of William Charles Willis and Margaret Driscoll – I have had such a break thru in the family tree this week that I feel as though I have won tatts. I managed to get information on Joseph Wells Willis and I would like to share it with all of the Willis/Reynolds families or anyone else that is related to Joseph Wells Willis and Maria Davidson – please contact me on lane1939@bigpond.com unfortunately the children of William Charles have now all passed away but I will be making the grandchildren aware of this wonderful site. Many thanks for sharing this – Jeanette Lane

    Noeline

  6. Jeanette Lane says:

Hi Noelene, I have looked at the photo also and looked at all the names in the family tree and there was no Jessie in the family tree of Willis/Reynolds amongst the children so it could be your relative – I do not know myself – great to hear from you – Jeanette

  7. Wendy says:

Great to see you are all finding this info of assistance – isn’t it wonderful that these photo’s still exist and in such clarity?

Just to fill you in: Joseph Wells Willis and Maryann (nee Davidson) were my Great-Great Grandparents – their daughter Sophia Wegener/Wagner (Willis) was my Great-Grandmother – daughter Bernice (Reid) was my Gran and her son George Reid was my Dad.

Have a read of how the Reynolds name came into the family!

  8. Vicki says:

  9. Colin Oxford says:

I have just stumbled across this site looking for information on Joseph Wells Willis and Mary Ann Davidson who were my great great great grandparents through their son William Joseph Wells Willis (my gg grandfather) who married Laura Wegener Reynolds -their daughter Violet Maude (known as Jess and who is in the photo at the Wrightville shop) was my great grandmother who I was lucky enough to meet when I was young. Violet married Henry John Ellis (Cobar 1902) and their daugher Lorna Sarah married my grandfather Russell James Oxford. Thank you for the fantastic site and photos. I have been researching for over 20 years so was thrilled to see the photos. I’ll gladly pass on any information I come across, although you are well ahead of me. I’d be happy to correspond with anyone else who may also be following the Ellis / Willis lines around Forbes, Broken Hill, Tambaroora, Hill End

  10. Wendy says:

Hi Colin – sorry for taking so long in replying to this but we have recently relocated back to Belfast and we have been doing all the settling-in stuff and it has been madness around here!

Glad you liked the pics and so glad they were such a nice find for you. It is always fun to find something new eh…?
Feel free, if you haven’t already, to copy and paste them from this site and use them yourself. These things are for sharing!

I would be eager to know of anything else interesting you might have about the Willis family.

    Hi,

Does this Willis family have a descendant who married Alan Gallagher from Western Australia. Marjorie Kathleen Gallagher nee Willis was from Cobar and is my mother. She was born in 1915 and had brothers Peter and William (Bill) sisters Grace and Gladys

  12. Wendy says:

Hi Keith, I have passed this enquiry on to a relative of mine who has more details about the Willis family in Cobar but it certainly sounds like a match to me! I have your email and will send on any information I receive.

  15. David Milston says:

    Hi,
My great-grandfather, Mayer Milston, had a general store in Wrightville from 1898 for some years. I wonder if you know this is the same store or were they in competition?? I remember our family had a similarly posed photo but can no longer locate it.
    Best Regards,
    David

  16. Wendy says:

I really cannot answer that question at the moment David but shall contact a relative who has more info about the family in Cobar and post a reply to you.
