I am a descendant of Joseph Wells Willis and Maryann Maria Davidson. My grandfather George Francis Willis was Sarah’s brother. Maryann’s birthdate was 10 Nov 1824; Joseph’s was 11 April 1819. Joseph’s parents were Daniel Willis and Sophia Wells. Unfortunately I know nothing about them apart from their names.
Thanks for sharing all your information.
Hi Janice and welcome! thanks for the names of Joseph’s parents – I have edited the post and included them.
Hope you enjoy reading about them.
I am also related to Joseph Wells Willis and now have details of the whole family back to 1725 – that is that I have details of the parents of Joseph Wells Willis and details of his birth etc. please contact me for the details – Jeanette Lane
Hello Wendy, I am another g grandchild of George Francis Willis. Jeanette (Willis) Hildred, descended from G.F’s brother Joseph the younger, has been working on our family for some years and I have in my posession a draft of what she put together before she had a stroke in 2001 or therabouts. Sadly Nette died in January 2010. All her research is now withher first cousin and my second cousin Barbara Mackay. Nette asked me if I would “do” GeorgeFrancis and his descendants. I was very happy to do that and we spent some time together over a few years sharing our collection.. Luckily for me GF and his families(2) was a country town hotel keeper as was his son George Norman, my grandfather and as you probably know country newspapers used to print anything they could get their hands on about anyone, often triva to them but very interesting. to us their descendants. We have lots of interesting snippets about them obtained in this way. Barbara and I intend to publish “The Willis Chronicles” eventually and although I have not finished the story of George Francis and his ten children, I have started to think about Sarah and her line. It would be good if a descendant of Sarah could start collating information about her. Would you be able to do this or is there someone in your family who would be interested in starting . I have her children’s names etc which I can elaborate on so that searches are not repeated, I could put it together unless of course someone would like to do it. I would really like to hear from you, to see what you think of this. yours in anticipation, Margaret
Hello Margaret – so nice to hear from you and I would love to know more about your research on the family. You can email me at wendy@wendyreid.org.
